>> So my name is Sarah Drennen and I'm
the curator at Rock Ford Plantation.
I do many different things, which is probably
one of the things I really love about my job.
My favorite thing is working with the
collections, so the furniture, we have silver,
we have ceramics, we have clocks.
And with those pieces I do a lot of
monitoring and cleaning, so every week I have
to monitor the temperature and the humidity.
I also have to clean and check for dust
and pests and every now and then we need
to move things or we need to put things away
or bring things out so I work a lot with that.
And then I also coordinate all of the
volunteers and do the educational programming.
So another part of my job is a lot of research.
I really like to fact check everything
before I give it to the volunteers.
I want to make sure it's accurate.
And we do different themed events.
Each month we have a Second Sunday event
so each month it's a different topic.
In October the topic was childbirth and child
rearing in the 18th century so in order to do
that event I need to research the
topic, find good information to use.
But another thing as well, I am
dressed up because I also give tours.
We're open Wednesday through Sunday and we
do have a lot of volunteers that give tours
but I also help out with tours as well.
