>> Hi. My name is Melissa Alam and
I'm the CEO and founder of the Hive,
which is Philadelphia's first
co-working space for women.
Elevator pitches are so funny.
Just they can be super awkward.
They can be -- they can just
bomb and just be horrible.
But I think the number one tip I have for
an elevator pitch is just to be authentic.
I mean, if you mess up, make a joke out of it.
Like come back.
No one's going to judge you if you are --
I mean, I feel like people would rather see
a real person, someone that makes mistakes
and picks back up from that compared to
talking to a robot and just someone that spits
out this hi, my name is, this is my business.
Like everyone hates salesmen and saleswomen and
I think it's important just to be authentic.
And if you're funny, add
humor to your elevator pitch.
And just have fun with it because you
want to drive the right type of audience
by being real and that's my advice.
