>> Well, my name is Carlos Garcia.
I live in Palm Springs, California.
I work for a global market research company,
and so I've been working in the specific field
of Spanish market research since 1980.
That's like a good 35 years.
Most of my clients and all of my
colleagues, almost all of my colleagues are
on the East Coast, so there -- they get up at,
you know, 9 a.m. for them is 6 a.m. for me.
So it's not exactly convenient.
And, generally, they are sensitive to West
Coast time, so I often have to end up getting
up really early for meetings with
my colleagues and or clients.
So I do a lot of 6 a.m., 7 a.m. meetings.
And so I get up in the morning, deal with all
these things, look at all the emails that come
in from my colleagues from the East Coast.
And I sort of like put out
fires and deal with things
and prioritize things and sort of do triage.
And then I get up and go for a bike ride
to get some exercise, and then I come back
and have coffee and a breakfast bar and,
you know, just get ready for my day.
But I try to get exercise after dealing with
all these, you know, putting out some fires.
Then I work through the afternoon.
And, after all my colleagues from the East Coast
have sort of closed their laptops, you know,
that's when I can actually get things done.
That's when the phone stops ringing.
That's when, you know, constant IMs and
crises and meetings and things go away.
So I can actually write things
and prepare proposals,
finish working on a report,
all the things that need doing.
