>> I would say if you're struggling in
certain classes, you have to stick with it
because I remember when I didn't realize how
hard calculus and physics were going to be,
I mean differential equations, calculus five,
everything that I took, I was going, oh,
my, what of I gotten myself into?
And you just have to find
ways to get through it.
I remember my mentor; he was a chief
meteorologist at a station in Richmond.
He said, "Cheryl, you've got to have a plan B."
Which is good advice.
He goes, "But if you don't make it
through this, what are you going to do?"
And to me, that was not an option because
I was going to make it through it.
And even though it was hard and I was not
a straight A student but I got through it
because I told myself nothing
is going to stop me.
Yes, this is tough.
Yes, I might not have quote unquote
partied as much as some of my friends,
going out on a Wednesday or Thursday night
because I had to go meet with study groups
so I could get my homework done and pass that
exam and so I could get that college degree.
And so to any student who might be
struggling or thinking, I can't do this.
Tell yourself you can and
you will and make it happen.
