I'm looking for someone who's had some
leadership experience, and by leadership,
there's two components to that-someone who has
had management experience and understands how
to do the day-to-day getting people to do
their jobs, and then on the second piece
of that is really knowing how to coach an
employee and help people to do their best
and be a role model and, you know
integrity and honesty and things like that,
and so those are the two
things I'd really look for.
Knowing, having had experience in
non-profits is an excellent skill to have.
It's definitely really important no
matter what type of non-profit you want
to get into, to start volunteering.
A lot of times people who don't have
experience in the disability field,
I say why don't you come volunteer for
us for a while, get some experience,
and maybe we can talk about bringing you on.
So that's really important as well, having
some experience in the non-profit in general
and then also in whatever field
that you're trying to get into.
