>> I think it's different in different
fields, but I think a lot of people --
I think it's foolish to, kind of, go and
pick a major and say I'm going to study -
I'm going to major in accounting because
I think it's going to make me money,
and I won't have any problems,
and I'll just be totally fine.
But I think you're much better off
studying something and going into a field
that you actually care about, that
you're passionate about in some way.
And, then, it just makes working in that field,
once you eventually get out
of school, that much easier.
Like, I've always liked, like, mapping side of
things and just maps, and so that's what I do.
I just make them and stare at them all day.
I don't ever, like, have that, ah,
I've got to go to work today, thing.
And I think a lot of people who, like
undergrads, who say, like, you know,
I'm going to pick a major
that's going to make money.
I'm going to study business.
Not that there's anything wrong with that,
but if you like that you should do it.
But I think you should do what you
like and just see where it takes you.
It's never too late.
If you do your, you know, if you do your
undergrad in something that you hated
and you just felt like you should finish it
anyway, I think you never really give up.
You never really have to be stuck in anything.
And I think there's always a way
to, kind of, try something new.
Go to grad school for something different,
or somehow bridge two different interests.
Like, if you studied business but you're
passionate about GIS and mapping, I don't know,
go into the business of mapping, I suppose.
And I always say to students,
because I think a lot
of college kids are just,
like, just too cool sometimes.
Too cool to bother with career services and
to do resumes, and to do practice interviews
and all of these kinds of things that
are just kind of bothersome in some way.
But there's nothing cooler than
getting a job after college.
So I would highly recommend
using those services,
especially because they are available to you.
And you're paying for them, so use them.
