>> An interesting thing about the planning
profession is that people come at it
from all different backgrounds and you
can go a lot of directions with it.
So I know a lot of people in the profession
and who are in my Master's program that came
from political science backgrounds.
There are a lot of people with an Environmental
Studies type background like myself.
Some people had English major backgrounds
and kind of fell into planning.
You can go a lot of-- it
depends on your interest.
Some people have a transportation focus
and they go into transportation planning.
Some people are environmental planners.
Other people are community activist
and they work on behalf of low income
to promote housing opportunities
and walkable communities.
Some people are totally multi-mobile
type interest of focusing on pedestrian
and bicycle advocacy and things like that.
So I think my path was perfect for me
and it was really suited to my interest.
I think as far as a major you can
come at it from a lot of directions.
