>> My name is Ed Hernandez and I teach at
Tustin High School in Tustin, California.
I am an engineering and mathematics teacher.
A typical day for me starts off
usually at about 7:00 in the morning.
I could be done by 4:00,
4:30 if everything goes well.
I could end up going home at 5:00 or 6:00.
I teach five classes.
Three are engineering and two are mathematics.
So it really depends on what's going ton that
particular day as to what the day looks like.
So it changes a little bit from day-to-day.
Our schedule for school might be
periods one, two, and three today.
Three, four, and five tomorrow.
Or we could have a blocked schedule one day.
But regardless we always have the same classes.
Now we have certain activities after school
where I might meet some of the students
at the shop if we're building projects
and what not, but it keeps it interesting.
Just in high school it's really cool
as far as demographics are concerned
because it is a snapshot of the state.
Where we have a certain number of, you know,
Hispanic Latino students, and
black, Asian, you name it.
Also as far as socioeconomics.
It is really a good representation of
what the state of California looks like.
So you have a wide variety of students.
You could have all kinds
of different relationships
between the students; between the faculty.
So it is kind of a -- it's a lively atmosphere.
It is dynamic.
So overall, as far as the school's concerned,
if you wanted to have the ideal atmosphere
for a student in a public
setting, as far as I'm concerned,
it would be here at Tustin High School.
