>> My name is Barbara Mankey, and I am
a registered nurse and currently work
at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
I work at one of the hospitals,
Penn Presbyterian Medical Center,
and I'm one of the clinical nurse educators.
We basically facilitate educational programs
not just for Penn Presbyterian Medical Center
but also for all of the University
of Pennsylvania Health System,
which is a corporate educational program.
So I help with the new practice
nurse residency program,
set up advanced cardiac life support
programs, specific in-services.
My areas of expertise within this particular
position are for the critical care units.
So it's really kind of helping the nurses,
helping the clinical nurse specialist,
helping leadership do whatever
needs to be done for the nurses
to be able to do the best patient care.
My typical days are -- can be
starting out in the office here, okay,
and working with the various programs.
I might have different instructors
doing advanced cardiac life support;
and I'm helping to facilitate, and I'm helping
to make sure everything's going okay with that.
I would be over in the hospitals working with
the clinical nurse specialist on the floor
who are the unit based educators.
I can also be down at 1500 Market Street,
which is our corporate educational center,
and I could be helping out with whatever
programs are going on down there.
For instance, today I went to the office in
the morning and then went down to 1500 Market
and helped with the preceptor
program that we have.
