A lot of students out there and
others might think that in order to be
within an Inspector General organization,
you need a criminal justice maybe
or one of those...you don't really
forensics, you don't really need that stuff.
In fact, at the county, we don't
have law enforcement authority,
some...most federal Inspectors
General, for example, do.
We don't, so if anything begins to border
on illegality, we send it and give it
to the police basically or the state's
attorney, it's called in the area.
So we deal with civil matters like
where employees misbehave or where,
you know programs are mismanaged
like procurement, rules are violated
and internal controls should be strengthened.
So in terms of majors, I'd say accounting
is great, I would say law is great,
I would say IT is wonderful and almost anything
else as long a person has inquisitive mind
and is willing to work on projects that take
4 to 6 months on the big ones to get done.
