>> I lived in Washington State
with my husband's parents
in a small town three hours east of Seattle.
Small, apple growing town, yes.
And I loved it.
It was different, very different
in a lot of ways.
Was a lot of curiosity about
me being in the town.
They didn't, not a town that was very diverse.
Later on, I eventually found a job there after
a lot of challenges, and we decided, my husband
and I that we would pursue graduate studies.
And he was a returned Peace Corps volunteer.
Temple University, the college of ed had
a Peace Corps fellows program at the time,
and he decided to look into it, and
got admitted and came to Temple,
and so I decided, OK, looks like a great school.
I wanted to try it out as well.
It was a little difficult for me
because coming with foreign credentials,
you don't easily get into graduate school.
Even though the credentials were approved and
accredited by the World Education Service,
and my transcripts were validated, but still,
Temple had its doubts and asked me to go back
to community college and take a whole
semester of general courses, which I did.
I mean, I think it was a
blessing in disguise actually.
Yeah.
