>> When I first started at Penn State,
I actually was majoring in biology,
had the opportunity to work in a lab,
was there for over a year and a half,
really enjoyed that but also liked business.
So over my career, I've moved more
into business, understanding finance,
and then ultimately realized that the
opportunities within the science field.
Previously I was working for a university.
Now [inaudible] research allowed
me to get back into the science
and understand what they're doing
but at the same time use the skills
in finance and accounting to leverage that.
So, it's a nice combination for me.
Originally, I graduated in 1978,
went into public accounting.
Deloitte was one of the Big 8 firms for the UU
graduates that are looking now at the Big 4,
was back in the dark days of
accounting, jokingly speaking.
But really enjoyed that, great professional
enlightenment and opportunities to work
with various clients and having a good
career path and after that did some work
in a financial institution and then
was approached by somebody that I knew
to actually consider higher education,
did that and was there for 23 years.
Most recently, just this past year,
I joined the Wistar Institute.
