>> [Inaudible section] campus
recruiter and I actually don't do any
of the experience hiring side, I'm focusing
on campus recruiting where I'm dealing
with freshmen, sophomores, junior, seniors,
faculty but in particular what I love
about this is the opportunity
to connect with students.
Right I kind of like I guess the young at
heart, you know obviously I went to USC,
I'm a die hard trojan, I always
talk about how I have season tickets
from day one, I go to every game.
I have two daughters, they have
no choice but to go to USC,
my daughter since the age
of 2 was saying fight on.
No white, blue and gold at all it's not even
allowed in the house but what it allows me
to do is one come back to my alum, you know
come back on campus where I'm connecting
with the students and that's
what I love the most.
It's really the ability to connect with people,
right it's also I get the
opportunity to make an impact right.
It's not when you're writing a report or you're
doing you know, you're doing something in Excel,
I get to work first hand with people.
I get to make these amazing
connections and hopefully have impact
on their career whether it is coming to my firm
KPMG or helping them find that place they want
to go to and I can't even tell you how
gratifying it is to see someone that goes
from their freshman year to their sophomore
year, I've seen them grow in front of me.
They go from being a high
school, fresh out of high school,
to this college student that's still wide eyed,
open looking trying to figure out their pathway
and to be able to have the
opportunity to guide them in some way,
shape or form or have an impact there.
Or maybe inspire them to do a career
that they never even thought, right.
You know I think back to my college
days and hearing presentations
on different careers right, and there's some
that I said okay it's okay but what I saw
that impassioned speaker, that person
that really loved what they did
and I always say you can't fake passion
right, just like my passion for USC,
my passion for KPMG and my career, you can't
fake that and if I could have the same ability
that I was fortunate enough here at USC
to have some great speakers come speak
to me, inspire me to want to do this.
If I could be somewhat of a small mentor
role in the lives of these students
where all throughout my college
I had great mentors right.
That's the one thing I loved about USC, I had
these great mentors the really helped me get
to where I am and just like my mentors at USC
I have the mentors I have now at [inaudible].
They always talk about mentors, mentors, mentors
and I really didn't know what that means,
it is one of those things...exactly
that's like wait I got a mentor,
how do I find this mentor, what do I do.
I'll tell you the best mentors are the ones that
have [inaudible] so for me one of my mentors
at USC was, well he's actually now the Dean
Marshal, Dean Ellis, [phonetic] he was someone
that because of his advice and he's someone
that has [inaudible] as I really got to know
and respect and he was the
leader in the marketing realm.
Under grad I did business and [inaudible]
marketing but when I was making that decision
to move over to the accounting side and parlay
my accounting knowledge as I got my Masters
with my marketing knowledge he was there
to say I totally think this is a great idea
for you right, so it's all the
influence I've had in my college career,
in my accounting career that's
really now allowed me
as a let's say a campus recruiter to give back.
It's the ability to give back is what I love.
