>> I went to the University
of Southern California.
I majored in political science and
minored in international relations
and I was gung-ho on being a lawyer.
My entire time at SC was spent pre-law.
All of my internships, all of my
coursework was all about prepping
to become a lawyer and going to law school.
That didn't happen as you can see.
So I interned for the DA's
office and I think I realized
that being a lawyer wasn't exactly what I
had in mind and I guess in a TV movie sense
of what I thought lawyers do and
there's a lot of grueling kind
of just administrative paperwork that stretches
on years and years before you really interact
with clients, with other people, and my
number one need in any job was I want to be
around people, I want to
interact with a lot of people.
So my first semester senior year I kind of
backed out and thought ok now what [laughter].
When I was at SC I was very involved in a
alumni mentoring group called Connections
and one of the mentors in Connections was in
procurement and she was working at Hilton Hotels
at the time and once I realized I didn't know
what I wanted to do I just started reaching
out to anybody and everybody cause I
literally had no idea what else was out there.
I had spent all of my energy
focusing on this one career path;
there was no room for error, now what?
So when Audrey reached out and said hey you know
this is what I do, I think it might be a fit
for your skill set, I've seen you you know
around campus and I've been active with you
through Connections, are you
interested even in finding more
about it cause they were
hiring entry level positions.
So I thought why not you know
what else do I have going on
and Hilton Hotels is a major
company name, it can't hurt.
So literally I kind of stumbled
into it and I've never looked back.
