>> Billy Gladden: Billy Gladden
in here at Redskin Park
to interview new Redskin kicker Kai Forbath.
Cobra Kai they call him.
He's been tearing it up on the field.
Let's go see what he has to say.
Kai, talk about your background.
>> Kai Forbath: I was a soccer
player growing up.
I thought that's what I was
going to be my whole life.
To be honest, I didn't even
really watch football.
I started kicking my freshman year of
high school and had a great kicking coach,
and my first goal was to get a scholarship for
football after I gave up soccer my junior year.
Once I got that, my next goal was just to have a
good college career, and once I kind of realized
that I was, you know, maybe had the
talent, then NFL became my next goal.
I went to UCLA.
Had hopes of being drafted and didn't work out.
And then I got injured during
the lockout, but, fortunately,
the Cowboys thought I'd be
healthy and took a chance on me.
Kept me, got me healthy again.
And then I got signed with
Tampa Bay for the pre-season
and camp, and they were awesome for me.
They gave me opportunities that nobody else
did and let me get some game film kicks,
which ultimately got me a chance here
to compete against some veterans.
So it's been about a year and a half
journey until I actually got a chance,
but I'm just trying to take advantage
of every opportunity I get now.
>> Billy Gladden: And so tell
us about your day-to-day.
Since you joined the Skins, life in
the NFL, what's your schedule like.
You know, bring us into your
world a little bit -
>> Kai Forbath: OK.
Start meetings around 8, 10 every day.
We have meetings for about two
hours, and then have a little snack.
We're on the field at 11:30.
Go until about 1:45, and then
I'm done for the day after that.
Then it's home, play some video games,
get some food, and get to bed early.
>> Billy Gladden: I take it you got to
relax when you're not with the team.
When you have some time to yourself,
you've got to take it, right -
>> Kai Forbath: I'm on the couch for the
rest of the day after I'm here, yeah.
>> Billy Gladden: Kai, can you tell
us a little behind the scene stuff.
You come into the NFL.
What's something that kind of surprised you?
Maybe caught you, you know, off guard,
you didn't know about the league.
>> Kai Forbath: I think that you
just, you have a lot of free time,
and you have to choose wisely
what you do with it.
A lot of guys, you know, don't,
and go out and party and what not,
but the guys that have made it for 10, 15
years take it seriously and use their off time
as wisely and helpful as you can.
I mean, I go in a cold tub every
day after practice, and, you know,
just little things you can do to use your time.
It's really, you know, helped, and I've seen it
in the guys that have been here for a long time.
>> Billy Gladden: Kai, thank
you very much for joining us -
>> Kai Forbath: Of course.
Thank you -
>> Billy Gladden: [Inaudible] career.
Good luck the rest of the way -
>> Kai Forbath: Thank you.
>> Billy Gladden: We'll be pulling
for you guys to make the playoffs.
>> Kai Forbath: Great.
Awesome.
>> Billy Gladden: Alright.
