>> [Background Music] Hello, everybody.
It's nice to be here.
I'm Rob Aggarwal.
I run a consulting firm called
Novel Health Strategies,
just started more than two years ago.
My background is actually in science.
I got my PhD from Hopkins on
biomolecular and chemical engineering.
But I wanted to be able to work in the
business side, so immediately after my PhD,
I went to New York, worked
for a firm called IMS,
which is going to be [inaudible]
healthcare consulting firms,
which was a very good experience and
I worked for one of the brokerage,
Equity Research [inaudible] Sanford Bernstein,
which is like a think tank if you're working
with their research group, which was a very
good experience to get on the finance aspect.
Then I worked for a CRO [inaudible].
I built their consulting practice for two years
and then I started my own
firm; it was early in 2011.
And we have been -- we had
a really good two years.
We worked for some of the biggest companies
like General Electric, Johnson and Johnson.
And we do work for a lot of fresh graduates,
so I would be happy to talk to you more
and tell you a little bit about what we do on
a daily basis and what kind of people we hire
and how we train them, how we work with them.
Thank you [inaudible] pass it to you.
>> -- everyone.
So glad to be here at Maryland.
I'm Beth Guerra.
I'm the Director of Talent
Acquisition at APCO Worldwide.
APCO is a business consulting
and communication firm.
We work across several different
industries and sectors and a variety
of different communication strategy
areas, so PR, media relations.
We are heavily focused within public policy,
so grassroots advocacy, coalition building
and healthcare energy transportation.
We're a global organization with 600
employees and 32 offices around the world.
We're headquartered here in Washington, D.C.
and I head up the recruiting efforts here
in D.C. And, we're always looking
for strong talent that is open
to communications consulting field.
[Inaudible] here.
[Inaudible].
>> Hello, everybody.
My name is Av Cohn.
I run a web development and search
engine marketing company called Digital
Development Consulting.
Fundamentally, the two main services
we offer are web design and development
and then search engine optimization
and pay-per-click strategies.
So, the goal is, in essence, to establish
a powerful online presence for all
of the companies that come and seek our help.
I'm sure I'm the youngest one on the panel,
[inaudible] you to know it [laughter].
And I graduated from the University of Maryland
a couple of years ago and my focus here was
in terrorism studies, which I really enjoyed.
Primarily, I was really interested
in studying online radicalization
and terrorist recruitment efforts, and that kind
of propelled me into this field of social media,
interacting with people, virtually
all of the influences and impacts
that an individual can have just
because of the power of the internet,
so that kind of prompted me to start
this company; I really enjoy it.
I look forward to meeting with all of you.
>> Okay. Well, I don't know how old you are
but I might actually be the
youngest one, too [laughter].
So, it seems like they say the youngest
or the least experienced for last.
I am Christopher Kim.
I work at Deloitte Consulting.
I've been there for about three years now.
I graduated from the University
of Maryland about three years ago.
Is that older or younger?
>> It's close.
>> It's close, okay [laughter].
All right.
So, yeah, I mean, I can't say
I have a lot of experience.
I do have experience from the
majority in the federal marketplace.
A little bit about of what I
do, I focused on military health
for the past two and a half years.
So, mainly, my area of expertise was
around project management support.
I kind of got into a little bit more narrow
focus down into, I guess, portfolio management,
you know, making sure that the federal
agency I'm supporting is really making sure
that they are justifying what they're investing
their money into and making sure that their --
you know, their goals and the initiatives
that they're funding is ultimately
aligning with their strategies.
So, that's what I've been doing
for the past couple of years.
So, very short and simple.
>> Daniel McCoy.
I actually attended University of
Maryland back in 2000 -- 1996, actually.
I only went here two years,
then I went into the military.
Intel background; I was an
intel analyst and then I flew
as a airborne cryptologic operator
on a jet called the RC-135.
We call them spy planes.
In 2006, I got out of the military and
I transitioned into DoD contracting,
became a recruiter, moved up pretty
quickly and in 2012, last year, July,
I started my own professional management
and administration consulting services firm.
And that's pretty much my
background in a nutshell.
