>> Michael [inaudible].
I'm a psychologist in the
Counseling Center at UC Irvine.
My day could start out one
way and end very differently.
Generally speaking, I provide
many different services
to the campus community including counseling
for students, consultation for housing,
teaching for our interns,
supervision for our interns,
training around campus for other groups.
For example, the campus emergency group I
teach their disaster psychology section.
So there are many different things in my day --
changes from day-to-day depending
on what's happening.
The atmosphere of the Counseling Center as far
as a workplace atmosphere is
very [inaudible] and supportive.
We have to because our days change so much.
I may be seeing crisis walk-in
students or some crisis on campus.
If multiple people begin walking in, I
can't see everybody all in the same time.
So that collaboration, that support among
us is important because I need to then focus
on the individual I have but also manage
everyone else and ask for assistance.
And having my colleague support me is important.
And it's also a lot of fun.
We do hang out.
We eat lunch and joke around.
You know, it's not always
serious, serious, serious stuff.
And it's very enjoyable.
Most of us are here for two
very important reasons.
One, is we like working with students.
We want to help them be successful as
students and in their lives as possible.
And because we are a training
site for future psychologist,
most of us are very dedicated
to training future psychologist.
