>> So for people in my field, one of the
real things - and this is not just economics,
this is in economic education - is you
have to have strong economic skills
and that requires having good
understanding of math and the skills,
math skills that you need
in order to learn economics.
But then you also have to be a people person
who can really articulate and explain and break
down the economic concepts in
ways that people can understand.
And that combination of things is unique.
So there's not a tremendous number of people
in the country who do that kind of work
because often times it requires being able
to take economic concepts and break it
down in levels for, for instance, elementary
school kids, middle school kids, and that,
that talent and that ability to be able to
convey to teachers and work with teachers
and get them to understand how they
can convey it to kids who are not
at the advanced levels yet, that's
a real special characteristic.
So for me, one of the things that was an
important thing is the fact that I'm good
at articulating economic concepts and
then I also have strong economic skill.
