>> I got my degree here at
the University of Delaware.
I graduated with my degree in
international relations and economics
and the reason why I chose what I
studied is because I like to help people.
I like international issues and politics
and I also like the economic side of it
because it really -- if you don't have a
strong -- if you don't have a strong economy,
you don't have a strong society, that's just
where I thought my train of
thought was at that time.
My first [inaudible] was I started off in --
as an apprentice at a nonprofit in Willington
that was dedicated to just getting started
off the ground in terms of just finding grants
and finding money just to
be able to sustain itself.
So that was a process but you learn -- one thing
I will say is that I learned a lot in terms
of the grant writing process,
understanding networking,
understanding knowing the key players of who
grants these funds, understanding foundations,
understanding the federal system of how grants
are awarded and what they're looking for so
that was definitely a benefit
to my [inaudible] and I ended
up developing a passion for grant writing, so.
