>> I got a golf scholarship.
I knew I wanted to go south.
I lived in Cincinnati as well
and back then, they did not --
unless you were really, really
top-notch to go to like the Wake Forest,
or the University of Houston's,
or Florida, Florida State --
there weren't many golf scholarships
being given back in the late '60s or '70s.
I knew that I wanted to pursue on a bigger stage
because I'd done very well in my local area
and I wanted to see how I, you know,
stacked up against other players.
So, I came down here, split a scholarship
with another gentleman from Indiana
and played four years and had a blast.
I wanted to get south so I could
play all year because I, you know,
Cincinnati in the wintertime
is not a place to play golf.
So -- and I wanted a smaller school at the time.
I didn't want to go to Ohio State
or University of Cincinnati.
So, I went down and talked
to the coach and here I am.
Well, I actually started out of the
Financial Services industry all together.
I worked for a family company that was involved
in the steel industry for
10 years, didn't like it.
But stayed there 10 years.
Finally, got the nerve to
leave and I just interviewed
with three of the bigger wire houses.
I think I interviewed with Payne Weber,
Morgan Stanley, and Merrill and decided
to go with Merrill Lynch back then.
But -- so, 10 years at another company and
now 30 years with -- so, I only had two jobs.
