>> I graduated from the Air Force Academy in
1983 with a degree in Behavioral Sciences,
a Bachelor's of Science Degree
which all graduates receive.
And then I went on to a Master's of Arts,
actually a Master's of Science Degree
at Trinity University in
Experimental Psychology.
And then followed up with that while I was
stationed in Australia with a Master's of Arts
in Research Psychology from the
University of Melbourne in Australia.
And then I culminated my formal education
here at Penn State University with a PhD
in Industrial Organizational Psychology.
Most of the jobs that I've ended up in have been
doors that opened that I had not anticipated.
And in some cases, being in the right place at
the right time with maybe the right background.
Being willing to take that on.
And I've been very grateful for people who
have seen something in me, either experienced
or some kind of a competency or
willingness to open those doors.
And being the Dean of the faculty, the Air
Force Academy came to me as an opportunity
after only serving as a Department
Head for two years,
and when the Dean position became
available, I remember saying,
I'm too new in the job that I'm in.
And someone who I respected greatly, a
mentor, said well you ought to put your name
in to be considered because it's your duty to
serve if the Air Force needs you to do that.
And I thought that was really
great mentorship, so I did apply.
And I was very fortunate to be selected and have
the opportunity to be the Dean at this time.
