>> Hi, I'm Mary Ellen Hrutka,
and I am the Executive Director
of the Mid-Atlantic Catholic Schools Consortium.
We represent the Catholic Schools in
the 6 dioceses in Maryland, Virginia,
West Virginia, Delaware and Washington, DC.
And we represent almost 100,000
students in 309 Catholic Schools,
helping to make Catholic school
education available, affordable,
accessible and academically excellent.
The one, there are two sort of
things that kind of guide every day.
One is always mindful of our
mission and then making sure
that we are maximizing our very small
staff's resources to bring the benefits
and opportunities and collaboration
to our Catholic schools.
We have 2 employs, so a very small
organization, a very small budget.
And my colleague is a permanent
full-time teleworker.
I work a lot from home, but we have an
official office in Annapolis, Maryland.
Typically we work what would
be considered a workday.
But like many professionals today, we
work, we're available in the evening.
We're doing emails if we're in a project.
But we try and respect the weekends.
Like today I worked at home on my
computer, prepared for some meetings,
we had a meeting with several
of our dioceses in Washington,
and then I did a reference check
for someone and I'm here today.
Tomorrow I will be traveling
to the diocese of Richmond
to attend an event honoring the governor
and will be working with the superintendent
and the chief education officer there.
And then on another day we'll be writing
grants and doing our annual appeal
to raise funds for our organization.
