>> I went to University of Redlands,
which is in Southern California,
and I went through a program called the
Johnston Center for Integrative Studies there.
So you are able to design your own major,
and you get evaluations instead of grades,
so it's a really progressive
type of education where you get
to integrate several areas of study.
So my emphasis, my major, was
entitled Facilitating Individual
and Organizational Transformation, and it
included studies in psychology, sociology,
and religion and it was about helping
people make changes in their lives
and helping companies and nonprofit
organizations also make changes.
So I loved my time there.
I was engaged and worked on campus in several
different capacities, as a resident advisor,
and I was a peer advisor, and
I loved my college experience.
So after I did the BA, I actually stayed another
year Redlands and did a MBA because I wanted
to be taken seriously, and I had done a very
liberal-arts-focused education, which I loved,
but I didn't learn a lot of the business
acumen that I wanted to know to be able
to be a life coach for an
executive or go into corporations
and advise them on how to make changes.
So, I'm really glad that I did the MBA
too to help balance those two things out.
So, after I did the MBA, I went and
worked at a conference and retreat center
as the marketing manager and was very
involved in all sorts parts of the business,
including setting up contracts with people
that were doing events there and presenters
and doing guest relations and
event planning and marketing.
After that, I started just doing that
part-time and had another part-time job working
with international teenagers, finding
home stays in the Denver area,
and then I started working here,
and this is a great combination
of knowing the business skills the social media
marketing side of things, but also being a part
of something that I feel passionate about
and that matters, getting students and alumni
to use Career Services is so important,
so that they can plan ahead and feel
like they're merging their passion
with actual technical skills,
so that they can find jobs and
internships that they love.
