>> The laws are very, very important because
when you're out in the field you have
to know what to do and what not to do,
what you can ask, what you can't ask,
and what you can give to the
witnesses that you're speaking to.
Sometimes the information is
very, very sensitive, and it's...
you're not supposed to give
that information out.
So we do take continuing education
classes to make us very aware of the laws
and how they change because a lot of laws,
especially for private investigators
regarding camera equipment, video surveillance,
and GPS tracking devices have
changed in this last year.
So they provide us continuing
education every year.
It's required to maintain your license.
Licensing is different from every state.
To become a license you have two options.
You have A, you can be sponsored by
our licensing company for 3 years,
and after that 3 years you
can become licensed yourself,
and if you choose to you can open your own
company, or B, you can become a police officer
or a sheriff's officer and with that experience,
that gives you that 3 years of qualification
to become a licensed private investigator.
