>> My name is Kelly Bossard.
I'm the Managing Director at FTI Consulting.
It's a consultancy firm, globally, a global
firm that has five different segments.
We primarily, the group that
I work with primarily works
with attorneys in litigation consulting.
So the group that I'm involved
with is called FLC,
it stands for forensic and
litigation consulting.
We do a lot of forensic accounting, getting
into the books and records of companies,
understanding where transactions occur
and looking for fraudulent transactions,
looking where money went, and things like that.
We also get involved in a lot of
litigation consulting activities
where we're working hand-in-hand with attorneys
that are litigating and who are prosecuting
in a regulatory context some of the
accounting and auditing related issues
but almost all engagements
have meetings with your client.
Usually at the beginning
there's a kickoff meeting.
Then they will provide you
documents particularly
in the litigation consulting context.
They will provide you a lot of the
discovery records, a lot of it is electronic
so you can search and look through
documents online or on your computer,
identify you know key documents
that are of most relevance.
A lot of times our work, the end of the project
will be an expert report that can be submitted
to a court with potential testifying role in
court so you know at the end of it you get
into drafting the report and that's a pretty
tedious process because it's very scrutinized
by you know not only internally
within FTI but our client.
There's a lot of back and forth with that.
So that is kind of on the
litigation consulting side.
More on the forensic side you may go to the
client itself, you know if it's a company
in Florida you would fly down there.
You would meet with the accounting group.
You would meet with the general counsel.
You would probably meet with outside
attorneys and get an understanding
of what it is they want you to look for.
You would also usually bring along
someone from our technology group
and they would help capture
the data and put it on a server
and help you manipulate it to
find what you're looking for.
