you really need to understand the industry.
I mean, you'll hear that with
your clients, with your customers.
You really need to understand how it works,
because going in, just saying "Oh yeah,
I'd be good at this, I'd be good at
that," is not going to be enough.
So I would say definitely
do your homework first.
And the way you do that is setting up
informational interviews, so contacting someone
like myself, or contacting friends or family, or
just people that you see and meet along the way,
it's very important to say I'm professional,
to network, and meet people that are
in the industries that you're interested
in, seeing what they do and how it fits
into the larger picture, and then by
having a better understanding of what
that particular industry or company or role
does, it will equip you to be better well-versed
to talk about things intelligently
that the company is obviously focused
on and prioritizes as important.
