>> I would give, if someone wanted to become a
nurse or acute nurse practitioner, I would say,
contact a hospital, any place that you'd
be interested in working, any field,
and schedule a shadow day, with
a nurse, or a nurse practitioner.
I feel that, in my experience,
everyone's very open,
to having people come see what
they do on a day to day basis.
And when I was going through undergrad and
grad school, I shadowed a ton of people,
and it's the only way that I figured
out what I liked and what I didn't like,
and what I wanted to do, and
what I didn't want to do.
And also, I, it helps me get
my current job, where I am,
because I shadowed their nurse
practitioners, I loved their service,
I contacted them when it was time for
me to do my clinical rotations, and,
it got me in for clinical rotation.
And so they knew me as I went through my entire
grad program, just because I had contacted them
to see what they did, and I showed
interest in what they were doing.
And then they hired me, as soon as
I graduated from my grad program.
So I think people need to just look up peoples
contact information at work and call them,
and the worst they can say is no,
but you get in, you get to see it,
and it's so, so, it's so helpful.
